The new 750 000 euros or $1.1 million dollar Mercedes-Benz is here. Mercedes-Benz and McLaren are adding to the SLR family with this new gem of a car. The final and extreme SLR is the legitimate bearer of a British motor racing legend. Stirling Moss drove the legendary Mercedes-Benz SLR racing cars from victory to victory in 1955.

Going topless

The new family member is going topless and showing a lot more. The Stirling Moss will not have a windscreen or a roof - how is that for feeling the wind in your face?

Whats under the hood?

No this isnt like your grandfathers (or great grandfathers) car this will of course be top of the line vehicle. I would expect so due to the price and who is behind it. Making the work of art go will be a 478 kW/650 hp supercharged V8 engine will go 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 350 km/h. For us Americans that breaks down to be 0-62 in 3.5 seconds and 217 mph - not to shabby. Im not sure I would want to go even 180 mph with no windshield but a lucky 75 will.

SLR Stirling Moss is to be limited to 75 units

Yes as usual there will be a very limited number made and according to Mercedes there will only be 75 of the SLR Stirling Moss. In May 2009 the production of the SLR Roadster will come to an end and in June 2009 they will begin production of the SLR Stirling Moss. Things should wrap up in December 2009 and will serve as a special thank you to the most loyal of SLR customers.

I have personally sat in a SLR earlier this year but dont see a Stirling Moss in my future. To those that get a chance or by some luck get to drive one I am very jealous of you.
