Porsche Cayenne Goes Diesel....Finally.

It seems that the Porsche Cayenne is going diesel in 2010 and not 2009 as some sites had speculated. I first read about Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking confirming it here (in German) and here (in English). The diesel engine is expected to be the same as what is in the Audi Q7.

If this is correct the diesel engine will be a 3.0-litre V6 and will have around 240 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque. This should be enough to keep the performance levels up to what people would expect out of a Porsche.

It seems that Porsche is using the money saved (from reusing the Audi engine) and instead investing it in a hybrid system. This system was just announced and is expected to be seen in the Porsche Cayenne sometime in 2010. 2010 appears to be a big year for the Porsche Cayenne.
